Michael joined Kapnick Insurance in 2020, after over a dozen years in sports media.

In his role as Client Executive, Michael’s primary goal is to build relationships with small businesses and individuals, and to create the right insurance programs to help them meet their goals. As a small business owner himself, Michael understands what it means to provide a safety net to businesses that have worked extremely hard, pouring their heart and soul into their organization to make them successful. He’s always invested in his clients’ businesses and families, and strives to take care of their needs.

Michael is a 2002 graduate of the University of Michigan, School of Kinesiology. Prior to joining Kapnick, he spent 12 years writing and reporting on U-M athletics and another 4+ years as a sports talk show host responsible for all aspects of a small business.

Giving back to his community is important to Michael, and he currently is on the Board of Directors for the Cancer Support Community of Ann Arbor, serving on their marketing and fundraising development teams. He’s worked with Ele’s Place, the American Cancer Society, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and The Ozone House in the past. He’s also coached baseball, forensics, and basketball, and is involved in his church where he’s taught religious education.

Michael lives in Royal Oak with his wife, Amy, and their son, John, born on Christmas Day 2019. In their free time, they enjoy traveling, spending time with their families, completing yard projects, building puzzles, cooking, and hosting parties.

Michael is a contributing writer on StartupNation.com and a insurance expert on the StartupNation Radio/Podcast.
